Fostering Connection Through Storytelling, Dialogue, and Community.
As part of the First-Year Experience, the Center for Engagement and Community Connection (CECC) is committed to cultivating a more inclusive, welcoming Bearcat community—one rooted in understanding, identity, and wellness. Our Bearcats Talk / Share / Celebrate initiative invites all students, especially those new to Northwest, to explore who they are, connect with others, and celebrate the everyday moments that shape their experience.
Your story matters.
During Advantage Week, we invite you to introduce yourself to the Bearcat community by completing the phrase: "I am a Bearcat and…"
This activity is a fun, creative way to share something about your identity, passion, background, or interest—because every Bearcat brings something unique to our community.
Examples:Look for pop-up boards and events across campus during Advantage Week to share yours!
Fall 2025 Inaugural 2-Day Event
This dialogue-based experience invites first-year students and peers to share personal stories, cultural perspectives, and lived experiences in a safe and welcoming space.
Our goal is to promote empathy, strengthen campus connections, and empower students to show up authentically.
Every interaction matters.
Through Bearcats Celebrate, we recognize that even small moments—conversations, gestures, or acts of kindness—can have a big impact. This initiative encourages students to reflect on and share moments that changed their perspective, made them feel seen, or helped them grow.
By celebrating these moments, we nurture a campus culture of gratitude, connection, and lifelong community.
