Networks & Connectivity

Northwest Missouri State University provides secure wired and wireless networks to faculty, staff and students with a valid Northwest Network Account. Campus visitors without Northwest Network Accounts can also access the internet via the campus wired network and guest WiFi.

Northwest Wireless Network

Northwest Wireless Network

Northwest provides two wireless networks for campus users: the Guest and the Secure. The Secure network, which is accessed with the Northwest Network account username and password, gives users the power to not only access the Internet, but print to campus-networked printers, access network storage folders and other Northwest Network Account-specific online resources. In contrast, the Guest wireless network allows a user to connect to the Internet without their Northwest Network Account login, but does not allow for printing to a campus networked printer or access to other Northwest Network Account-specific resources such as campus network storage folders.

Northwest Wired Network

Northwest Wired Network

Since 1996, Northwest has provided students, faculty and staff with a secure wired network to accomplish online technology tasks and access Northwest-specific resources. Live Ethernet ports are available in many classrooms and within all residence hall rooms, offices and public labs. Faculty, staff and students with valid Northwest Network Accounts can use the wired network to print to campus networked printers and access other Northwest Network Account-specific online resources. Campus visitors without a Northwest Network Account can use the campus wired network to get on the Internet to accomplish personal technology tasks such as checking email or conducting an online search.
