Banner Self-Service 8 to Self-Service 9 Transition

Northwest is transitioning to Self-Service Banner 9 (SSB9) on September 29, 2025. Offering a more modern, user-friendly experience for Students, Faculty and Staff. This transition will involve upgrades to the user interface and functionality.

As Northwest transitions to Self-Service 9, we want to provide answers to some common questions about what this change means, why it’s happening, and how it will affect you. In addition, the Faculty, Employee, and Student tabs include a Crosswalk that shows where features from SSB8 are now located in SSB9, along with helpful education documents to guide you through the transition.

Why is Ellucian retiring SSB8?

Ellucian is transitioning Self-Service Banner 8 to a maintenance support status on September 30, 2025, then to End of Life on January 1, 2026.  The transition is part of their modernization efforts, which offer an improved user experience and enhanced features.

What does end of support mean?

Ellucian will no longer support the product, meaning there will be no fixes or releases for SSB8.
