Northwest Missouri State University is approved for certification of students eligible to receive educational assistance from the Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA). The Certifying Official (SCO) will assist you in meeting the requirements of the VA Educational Assistance Program and act as a direct liaison between Northwest Missouri State University and the St. Louis Regional Office regarding payments of benefits

You may find that your university experience is a lot different from your previous educational experiences. That's okay you're not alone. Maybe in high school you got good grades without really studying. Or maybe you're a little rusty on certain skills. Acknowledging that you can use some help and may need to learn some new study strategies is a big step. That is why we're here for you. We can assist you in the development of study skills, note taking, time management, healthy lifestyles, etc.

Advisement  (also a part of the Student Success Center)

The Student Success Center also offers advisement services and resources to assist Northwest students with their academic questions and inform them of additional resources that help students decide on a major. Since 65% to 85% of all students change their majors during their university career, they can all benefit from becoming familiar with the advisement resources early in their college career.

The TRIO Student Support Services Program at Northwest Missouri State University is a federally funded student oriented learning assistance program that provides financial, career, personal and academic advisement to first generation, low-income and/or students with disabilities. SSS student members benefit from the use of a variety of program resources and individual interaction with Student Mentors and a highly dedicated program central staff. Program personnel strive to get to know student members well enough to suggest special opportunities based on individual abilities and needs.

Career Services provides  career information to students and alumni exploring career opportunities; seeks to strengthen job search skills while continuing to establish and maintain   relationships with employers in public and private schools, colleges, university, business, industry and government; provides active and effective settings for students to interact with employers in an effort to gain insight to the changing needs of the workforce; and offers support to the university community through feedback from follow-up surveys of graduates.

Personal Development and Counseling Services at Northwest Missouri State University is a vital esource that can help students reach their full potential. We are located in the Wellness Services. The Office of Student Involvement supports a unique and diversified list of activities and events throughout campus.
