Pre-Osteopathy

Program(s) Available: Pre-professional

If you are interested in preventative health care, a major in pre-osteopathy may be right for you. Osteopathy is a holistic approach to medicine that focuses on the diagnosis of disease and illness and the assessment of injury using medication, surgery, hands-on techniques and modern technology.

Why Study Pre-Osteopathy at Northwest

Northwest's pre-professional programs give students the flexibility to explore many careers. Courses are designed to meet the specific requirements of a student's school of interest. Many professional schools have certain procedures regarding entrance tests, application deadlines and interviews. Northwest faculty advisors help students navigate this process!

At Northwest, we believe in learning by doing. Pre-osteopathy students gain valuable experience by shadowing, observing and working in a professional environment. This opens doors to opportunities down the road and shows students what a career in this industry really looks like.

Pre-osteopathy students are encouraged to research the admission requirements of their intended osteopathy school. Example course requirements include biology, chemistry, physics and general education. In addition, students should choose a major that best prepares them for the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT). Important areas of study include genetics, microbiology, physiology, anatomy, psychology and sociology. Many Northwest majors can lead to osteopathic school! Faculty advisors can help students make these big decisions.
