Welcome to Upward Bound

Upward Bound is a pre-college program that provides high school students with the skills needed to succeed in high school and to attend and finish a post-secondary educational program.

Through academic tutoring, the Upward Bound program assists participants with high school study and encourages them to pursue a college education. Upward Bound provides study sessions, tutors that help students with basic skills and current courses, after-school and selected weekend activities, and a summer residential program with an included enrichment trip to another state.

Why should you join Upward Bound

All services offered are completely free! Participants develop the skills and motivation needed to finish high school and receive comprehensive academic support, including tutoring and advising for academics, careers, and college preparation. Students explore college majors to find the right fit and receive preparation for the ACT and other standardized tests. They also get guidance on college admission applications, financial aid, and scholarships.

In addition, students may receive stipends—free money—based on their attendance at Upward Bound activities and their academic performance. The program also offers exciting travel opportunities to visit college campuses and cultural sites both in and out of state.
