About the Honors Program

Curriculum

Curriculum

Honors students complete a minimum of 12 credit hours of Honors classes, selected from options in our general education program. Honors classes are limited enrollment with caps of 20-25 students, allow for closer relationships with Honors faculty, and promote critical thinking. Students coming in with dual credit, AP classes, and transfer credit may be able to complete upper division courses with an Honors Credit Agreement in lieu of some Honors-specific general education classes.

Course Sequencing

Course Sequencing

Honors courses are offered on a regular rotation cycle with a minimum of three courses available each fall and spring semester. The sequencing schedule provided here can be used in planning your schedule.

Experiences

Experiences

In addition to their coursework, Honors students complete their Honors credentials by undertaking three experiences from among the following options in Service/Leadership and Personal/Academic Growth. Students select at least one experience in each of these two categories. Service/Leadership options include alternative spring break, community service, training such as Lead Green or RESPOND, and a study abroad trip. Personal/Academic Growth options include undertaking original research, presenting research or creative work, participation in colloquia on campus, and internships.
