So you want to join senate? What a great decision! We appreciate your interest in serving your fellow students.

Let's cover some commonly asked questions!

What is the Student Senate?

The Student Senate is the voice of the student body. It exists to initiate consideration of student problems and to communicate action or recommendation to the designated school authorities. We also appropriate funds to organizations on a first come, first serve basis.

Who Can Join?

Anyone! If you are a student at Northwest and hold a 2.5 GPA,  you are eligible. You also may join at anytime by applying for Associate Membership. The duties of the associate members include:

There may be openings between semesters due to scheduling conflicts with our Tuesday night meetings, thus, some senators choose to resign. Elections are held at the beginning of the Fall semester every year and then at the end of the Spring semester. The Executive Offices are voted on during the Spring elections.
