Mozingo Outdoor Education Recreation Area (MOERA)

Important Notice

Individuals must continue wearing a face covering until they are fully vaccinated, regardless of age.

In general, people are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after receiving their second dose of a two-dose series, such as the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, or two weeks after a single-dose vaccine, such as Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine.

The Mozingo Outdoor Education Recreation Area (MOERA) is a 320-acre parcel of land situated on beautiful Mozingo Lake. MOERA is operated by Campus Recreation and provides a variety of outdoor education and recreation opportunities, including:

  • The MOERA Challenge Course
  • Shooting Sports (Trap and Archery)
  • Canoes and Kayaks
  • Other Outdoor Experiences
  • Observatory (operated by the Department of Natural Sciences)
  • Outdoor Research Areas (conducted by a variety of departments)

It provides safe, fun and engaging experiential education opportunities, whether you are interested in learning new outdoor skills, staying physically active, or developing teamwork, communication or leadership skills.
