Dr. Shelby Shelton is an accomplished performer, adjudicator, and clinician with a deep passion for the marching arts. She currently serves as the Front Ensemble Coordinator for the Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps and works as a consultant with Crossroads Percussion.
From 2019 to 2023, Shelby was a member of the instructional staff for The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps, winning the Fred Sanford High Percussion Award in 2023. Her extensive teaching experience includes work with numerous ensembles such as the Sacramento Mandarins, Madison Scouts, George Mason Indoor Percussion, Music City Drum Corps, James Madison University’s Marching Royal Dukes, Father Ryan High School, and Veritas Indoor Percussion.
Dr. Shelton contributes to the broader percussion community through her involvement with the Percussive Arts Society, where she serves on both the Marching and Rudimental Percussion Committee and the Diversity Committee. Her academic research focuses on emotive gesture and expression in percussion performance.
