Other Professional Experiences

Dr. Max Gerhart has appeared with musical acts and ensembles such as The Kansas City Symphony, the Wichita Symphony, Leslie Odom Jr., the Violent Femmes, “Weird Al” Yankovic, and more. Max regularly performs as a freelance musician throughout Missouri and Kansas. He is also an active clinician and enjoys working with high school students throughout the Midwest.

Max has served on the faculties of Missouri State University, Southwest Baptist University, and Truman State University. He is the Principal Tubist of the Springfield (Missouri) Symphony Orchestra and the Topeka Symphony Orchestra. 

Max received both a Doctorate and a Master’s degree in music from the University of Kansas and a Bachelor of Music from Ohio University. He has studied with Scott Watson, Jason Roland Smith, Tony Zilincik, Timothy Northcut, and Tim Buzbee. In his free time, Max enjoys playing disc golf, fishing, and reading.
