Sonatina-Sonata Festival: Peter Myamoto, guest performance

Peter Myamoto will perform as a guest pianist at Northwest's annual Sonatina-Sonata Festival.

A professor of piano at the University of Missouri, Myamoto has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in more than 12 countries in Asia, Europe and North America and released several critically acclaimed recordings of piano music. He was the first Gilmore Young Artist and serves as the executive director of the Plowman Chamber of Music Competition. Miyamoto holds degrees from the Curtis Institute of Music, Yale University School of Music, Michigan State University and the Royal Academy of Music in London.

Sonatina-Sonata Festival provides an opportunity for students in grades 4-12 to perform Sonatas or Sonatinas in a competitive environment and receive an evaluation. A honors recital will be at 4 p.m. in the Charles Johnson Theater; it is free and open to the public.
