Ask Valk Anything: Genocide: What it is and why we need to talk about it

What do we mean when we use the term "genocide"? With so much violence in the world when do we start to use this term and related ideas like "war crimes" and "crimes against humanity"? For this Ask Valk Anything we're going to provide context and unpack some of this difficulty topics and their histories.


The Ask Valk Anything series invites faculty and community experts to answer your questions about current events and issues of interest to college students. These hour-long panel discussions will bring multiple disciplinary perspectives to complex issues and facilitate open conversation between students, faculty and community members.

The Ask Valk Anything series is start at 6 p.m. in Valk 118. This semester's themes are:

  • October 10 - Genocide: What it is and why we need to talk about it?
  • October 24 - Fake News: What is media literacy?
  • November 7 - Student's Choice!
