Partial Annular Solar Eclipse viewing

The Department of Natural Sciences will host an observation of the Partial Annular Solar Eclipse, beginning about 10:15 a.m. outside the B.D. Owens Library.

The observation, which is free and open to the public, will provide attendees with an opportunity to view the eclipse through telescopes with solar filters that allow for direct observation as well as projection.

The moon is expected to begin encroaching on the disc of the sun at about 10:25 a.m. and peak coverage – between 60 and 70 percent of the sun – is expected at about 11:50 a.m.
