Northwest Missouri Nursing Collaborative Nursing Conference

Northwest and Mosaic Medical Center—Maryville are partnering to host the second Northwest Missouri Nursing Collaborative Nursing Conference

The conference features keynote speaker Dr. Carol Huston, a nurse, author and leader in the nursing field, in addition to several other breakout session speakers. Huston will speak about power in the nursing profession and exploring ways to utilize it.

Huston’s long nursing career includes more than 30 years as a nursing professor at California State University, Chico, where she also was director of its School of Nursing. She also taught in the family nurse practitioner program at Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, California. She is a fellow in the American Academy of Nursing and has been recognized as an outstanding alumni by the University of Iowa College of Nursing.

An author of seven textbooks about leadership, management and professional issues in nursing, she is co-developer of the Marquis-Huston Model for Teaching Critical Thinking, which has been recognized internationally by nurse scholars. She also is the author of more than 150 articles in leading professional journals.

The conference will feature an afternoon keynote presented by Nina Hawthorne, a nurse administrator with Mayo Clinic Arizona, and an evening keynote presented by Dr. Tim Crowley, a motivational speaker on leadership and resilience.
