Procedure for admission to the Professional Education Program

  1. Post-baccalaureate students must meet the graduate admission requirements of the major department, regardless of whether the M.S.Ed. Degree is being sought.
  2. Qualified students seeking admission to the Professional Education Program must apply through the TESS Office (AD 253). NOTE: Admission forms will not be issued until all criteria have been met. Post-baccalaureate students should identify themselves as such to ensure receiving the proper form.
  3. Students who have met the admission requirements will be issued an Application for Admission to the Professional Education Program. Students will meet with their Post-Baccalaureate Advisor for approval. By signing the application, the advisor is certifying that she/he met with the student in conference, and that the student is qualified to continue in the Professional Education Program. Return the signed form to the TESS Office for final approval by the TESS Coordinator. Any changes in the anticipated student teaching semester must be reported to the TESS Office once admission to the Professional Education Program has been obtained.
  4. Students seeking allowable exceptions to admissions requirements must petition through the Teacher Education Admissions Committee (TEAC).  The student will be notified in writing when a decision concerning the petition has been made.
  5. Once the completed application has been returned to the TESS Office and has been approved by the TESS Coordinator, the student will be admitted to the Professional Education Program.  A copy of the application will be emailed to the student and his/her advisor(s).
