Home-Schooled or GED/HiSET Students

Home-Schooled Students

We encourage home-schooled students to apply for admission to Northwest Missouri State University. Home-schooled students will be evaluated similar to those students who attend or are attending a public or private high school. Applicants must have their ACT or SAT results submitted directly from ACT or College Board. A transcript listing of high school courses and grades in each course is also required for admission.

In order to be accepted, home-schooled students must meet one of the following criteria:

  1. a 21 or higher on the ACT (or SAT equivalent) OR
  2. a GED score of at least 660 OR
  3. a HiSET score of 75 or better.

Students who do not meet these requirements will be reviewed on an individual basis. Official ACT/SAT scores directly from ACT or College Board are required for course placement and scholarship purposes.

GED Applicants/HiSET Applicants

A student may be considered for admission after receiving an equivalency certification meeting the following criteria: a total score of at least 660 on the GED or a total score of at least 75 on the HiSET. Students who do not meet these requirements will be reviewed on an individual basis. ACT/SAT test scores directly from ACT or College Board may be required unless applicant is an adult student and for course placement and scholarship purposes.

  1. Submit official GED/HiSET and ACT/SAT (directly from ACT or College Board) test results to Northwest.
  2. Have your high school send an official copy of your partial high school transcript.
