Why Study Health and Information Systems at Northwest

This is an interdisciplinary minor in conjunction with the School of Computer Science and Information Systems and the School of Health Science and Wellness. The minor consists of courses designed to provide students with a broad exposure to gathering and analyzing data through health science and computer science and information systems disciplines.

Students will look forward to classes such as digital technologies, community health and computer programming. This minor requires 24 credit hours. For more information on courses, review our Academic Catalog.

Martindale Hall, the home of Northwest's School of Health Science and Wellness will have seven new lab spaces through the new renovation, including a Sport Science lab and Recreation and Abilities lab.

Robert and Virginia Foster Fitness Center

The Robert and Virginia Foster Fitness Center is available for students to gain experience in managing facilities, developing programs and personal training.

Students experience between 480 and 560 hours of profession-based opportunities during supervised internships lasting 12 to 16 weeks. Internships are available at cardiac rehabilitation facilities, private and not-for-profit wellness and fitness centers, municipal health agencies, senior centers, long-term care facilities and athletic training centers.
