Admission-based scholarships require an admission application deadline of May 1 to guarantee awards. Students who complete their admission application after May 1 will be awarded scholarships contingent upon available funding.
The criteria listed on these pages are for initial awarding as a first-time Northwest Missouri State University student. To review the renewal requirements for the scholarship(s) you have been awarded, please visit Scholarships for Current Students.

Northwest offers a wide variety of scholarships for first-time students. We've listed them here based on the application process, from automatic scholarships that the University will determine based on your application for admission, to private scholarships that require you to call for information. Please look through all these pages to see what you're eligible for (for instance, scholarships for your intended major or from your hometown).

1. Find your GPA row.
Look for your high school GPA range (like 3.95+, 3.85–3.94, 3.75–3.84, etc.) and note where you fall.
2. Find your test score column.
Next, match your ACT or SAT range (for example, ACT 30–36 or SAT 1390–1600). If you only took one test, use that column.
3. See where they meet.
Where your GPA row and test score column intersect, you’ll find your scholarship amount.
Higher GPA + higher test = larger award.
Some tiers may have titles like Provost Scholar or Dean’s Scholar.
These scholarships are automatically awarded when you apply to Northwest. Students are notified via email about their award.

To be considered for various scholarships awarded by individual campus departments, students are encouraged to complete the Standard Scholarship application each year. Our Northwest Foundation, departments, and private donors fund these scholarships. The Standard Scholarship Application is available September 1 through February 1, award decisions are made during the month of February, and awarded scholarships are distributed the following academic year. Students can complete the application by logging into CatPAWS, clicking the Student tab, and then selecting the Standard Scholarship Application box.
