Assistant Vice President of Health & Wellbeing
Christy Tapps serves as the Assistant Vice President of Student Affairs, Health and Wellbeing at Northwest Missouri State University. In this role, she provides strategic leadership for the University’s integrated health clinic, counseling, and wellness education and prevention services, advancing programs that promote student success and a thriving campus community.
Tapps joined Northwest in 2016 as an assistant athletic trainer and has since served as head athletic trainer and Senior Woman Administrator, working with nearly every Bearcat athletic program. She holds a bachelor’s degree in sports medicine and athletic training with a minor in nutrition and biomedical sciences from Missouri State University and a master’s degree in health and human performance from Oklahoma State University. Her professional background spans collegiate athletics, clinical care alongside an orthopedic surgeon, and wellness program leadership and development.
Tapps is passionate about fostering a culture of health, collaboration, and inclusion at Northwest. She and her husband, Tyler, live in Maryville with their two sons, Landon and Carter. In her free time, she loves spending time with family, reading, and attending sporting events – especially Bearcat Athletics.
