CatPAWS and Degree Audit for Students

Accessing Your CatPAWS Account

What is CatPAWS?

CatPAWS is an online program used for various functions including enrolling for classes, and adding or dropping classes.

Access to ’CatPAWS is located in the Bearcat Login Menu at nwmissouri.edu.  

How do I log into my CatPAWS account?

To enter the Secure Area of ‘CatPAWS, log on using your Northwest Username (without @nwmisssouri.edu) and password.

  1. Click on ‘CatPAWS
  2. Click on 'CatPAWS Login.
    • The User Login window will appear.
  3. Type in your Northwest Username and password.
  4. Verify your identity using verification code for Microsoft authentication (if requested).

Inside the Secure Area of Your CatPAWS Account

The Home page includes cards for: Personal Information, Student, Registration, Northwest Class Openings, Financial Aid, and more.

To Enroll, Drop or Add classes, do the following:

  1. Go to the Registration card   
  2. Click on Add/Drop Classes
  3. Select Term from the drop-down box
  4. Click Continue
  5. The Registration menu displays
  6. To continue, you must enter your Alternate PIN (six characters in length), which has been given to you by your Advisor.  The Alternate PIN is your Advisement/Enrollment Password.  You must enter your Alternate PIN for initial enrollment.
    • If it is your enrollment time, you will be allowed to enroll.
    • After your initial enrollment, the Alternate PIN is not required to Add/Drop classes.
  7. To add classes, click the Find Classes tab.
    • Enter your search criteria to perform a Course Search or an Advanced Search
    • Click Search
  8. A listing of classes will appear
  9. Click on the Add button next to the appropriate course section of the class you wish to add
    • The course will appear in your course summary, but the status will show as Pending
  10. Click the Submit button
    • This will add the Course to your schedule
  11. If you know the Course Reference Number(s) (CRNs) of the course(s) you wish to add, click the Enter CRNs tab.
    • Type in the CRN you wish to add
    • If you wish to add multiple CRNs, you must click +Add Another CRN
    • Once all of your CRNs have been entered, click Add to Summary
    • The course(s) will appear in your course summary, but the status will show as Pending
    • Click the Submit button to add the course(s) to your schedule
  12. To drop a class, click on the drop-down arrow in the Action column next to the course you wish to drop
  13. Click Web Drop Course
  14. If no options are listed in the Action field, then the class may not be dropped.
  15. Click the Submit Changes button
    • You will now be dropped from the course.

To look-up classes to add outside the Add/Drop area, do the following:

  1. Go to the Registration card 
  2. Click on Look-up Classes
  3. Select Term from the drop-down box
  4. Click Continue
  5. Click your search criteria or click on Advanced Search
    • The Subject field displays a drop-down menu list of available Subjects to search for classes
  6. Scroll through the subjects listed and click the Subject you wish to search.
    • To select multiple Subjects, choose them one at a time.
  7. Click the Search button to display all classes offered in a specific Subject(s).
    • A listing of classes will appear
    • Click on the course title for more information about the course
  8. Click the Advanced Search button to narrow your search as follows.
    • Select the desired subject(s) and additional search criteria including Course Number, Course Level, Part of Term, Instructor Name or Attribute.
    • Click Search
    • A listing of classes will appear
    • Click on the course title for more information about the course

To check your Registration Status, do the following:

Check for any HOLDS ON REGISTRATION and view TOTAL EARNED CREDIT HOURS.

  1. Go to the Registration card
  2. Click on Registration Status
  3. Select the term from the drop-down menu and click Continue
    • Provides registration holds and your total earned credit hours.

To view your Degree Audit, do the following:

The online Degree Audit is available from the Northwest Log-in page using the Single Sign-on functionality. 
  1. Go to the Bearcat Login Menu at https://www.nwmissouri.edu/login/
  2. Click on Degree Audit button
  3. Login using your Northwest Username and Password (same as email)
  4. Your degree displays
  5. Click the Process New button to ensure all student and enrollment information is current

To run "What-If" Audit, do the following:

  1. From the Degree Audit screen (see Steps 1 - 5 above)
  2. Select the Worksheet Tab
  3. Click on What-If
  4. Select the following (as appropriate)
    1. Level
    2. Degree
    3. Catalog Year
    4. Major(s) – multiple majors may be selected
    5. Minor(s) – multiple minors may be selected
    6. Concentrations(s) – if appropriate
  5. Click Process What-If button
  6. Scroll down to View the What-if Audit

To view Midterm Grades, do the following:

  1. Go to the Student card
  2. Click on View Grades
  3. Select Term
  4. View your Midterm Grades for the Selected Term.
    • Grades will appear in the Midterm Grade column.

To view Final Grades, do the following:

  1. Go to the Student card
  2. Click on View Grades
  3. Select Term
  4. View your Final Grades for the Selected Term.
    • Grades will appear in the Final Grade column.

To view your Academic Transcript, do the following:

Find your TOTAL EARNED CREDIT HOURS AND GRADE POINT AVERAGES by scrolling to end of transcript.

  1. Go to the Student card
  2. Click on Academic Transcript
  3. Select Transcript Level – All Levels
  4. Select Transcript Type – Web
  5. Click the Submit button
  6. View your Academic Transcript using the scroll bar. 

To Apply to Graduate, do the following:

  1. Go to the Student card
  2. Click on Apply for Graduation
  3. Click Submit
  4. Select the current Term
  5. Choose the correct Degree and Major/Minor option from curriculum displayed
  6. Click Continue
  7. Select the term you will be completing your degree requirements from the Graduation Date drop-down list
    • Please note, this is not for the commencement ceremony.  You will receive messaging from Northwest Commencement regarding the ceremony.
  8. Select a Name for your Diploma from the drop-down list
  9. Enter (or edit) your name to be printed on the diploma
  10. Click Continue
  11. Select an Address for your Diploma from the drop-down list
  12. Enter (or edit) your Diploma Mailing Address
  13. Click Continue
  14. Review your Graduation Application to ensure all information is correct.
  15. Click Submit Request

Logging Out

How do I log out of CatPAWS?

To log out of CatPAWS, click the circle in the top right-hand corner of the page and select Sign out.
