Alpha Psi Omega

Alpha Psi Omega is a national honor society for students majoring in Theatre. Membership is based on production activities and academic excellence. Among its many other activities, the group sponsors the annual touring Children's show and donates the proceeds to charity.

Art Club and Art Association

The Art Association is a student-run organization designed to provide students with additional educational opportunities in the arts outside of the classroom. Membership is open to any student interested in participating and promoting an artistic community. To maintain active status in the Art Association, members must maintain at least a 2.00 cumulative GPA, attend monthly meetings and participate in Art Association-sponsored activities.

Art Education Club

The purposes of the Art Education Club are to provide a smooth transition from art education preparation to professional practice, to raise and maintain a high standard of quality art education on campus and the surrounding area, to gain greater insight and perspective about the teaching of art and contemporary concepts in art education, to sponsor service projects, to promote an exchange of ideas in art education and to recruit and enlist future art teachers. Art Education Club members participate in a variety of fundraising activities each school year. Funds raised are used to support the Art Education Club Scholarship Fund and to support other Art Education Club activities such as attendance at state and national art education conferences, guest speakers and service projects. Membership is open to anyone interested in art education.

Big Shoe Graphics

 Big Shoe Graphics is a work-for-profit student-run advertising agency. Clients present their needs to the students, and teams produce concepts that might be accepted and paid for by the client. Associate Professor Craig Warner acts as the senior art and creative director for the students and coordinates work done for the clients. Once a client is satisfied with the layout proposal, advanced students act as freelancers creating work under Warner’s guidance. The tag line for Big Shoe Graphics is “An experience you can profit from,” and over the years they have created logos for hospitals, start-up companies, children’s books, brochures, websites, animations, interactive tutorials, textile designs and creative writing magazines.

Clay Club

The Clay Club is a student organization for ceramics students who are intermediate and advanced level students. Clay Club supports Ceramics Studio events at Northwest, co-curricular activities beyond campus such as field trips to regional ceramics shows, symposia or lectures, and field trips to regional ceramic artists’ studios and galleries. Clay Club also gives ceramics students the opportunity to sell their works to offset tuition and/or art materials costs.

Comedy Inc.

Comedy Inc. is a performance-based Improvisational Theatre group. Auditions are held up to three times per year and are open to the entire campus with no previous experience required. The group will meet once a week to rehearse and stay fresh on current improvisational activities. This group presents an Improvisation show each trimester, open to the public.

DigEM (Digital Electornic Media)

DigEM (di-j 'm) is an organization IDM majors, Multimedia minors, and non-related majors interested in digital electronic media. The DigEM organization serves to promote the following:

  • An increased knowledge of design, development, creativity, and applications of IDM
  • Greater interest in computer programming, new media and visual imaging
  • A means of communication between persons having interest in all areas of IDM and those people working in the professional environment

DigEM encompasses digital design and all things involved. If you have an interest in design of any type, then this is the organization for you.

Future Speech/Theatre Educators of Northwest

Future Speech/Theatre Educators of Northwest provides support, information, and social opportunities for students pursuing a B.S.ED. in Speech/Theatre. The group produces plays and workshops for the university community and is active with area secondary schools.

Kappa Kappa Psi - Kappa Delta

Kappa Kappa Psi is a fraternal organization that promotes the advancement of college and university bands through dedicated service and support to bands; comprehensive education; leadership opportunities; and recognition for the benefit of its members and society.

Kappa Pi

Kappa Pi objectives span from the promotion of art education/enlightenment to organizing people with an interest in art for informal social gatherings, as well as for service and community related projects.

NAƒME (National Association for Music Education)

NAƒME was founded in 1907 when 104 music supervisors from school districts in 16 states answered an invitation to take part in a special conference for school music supervisors in Keokuk, Iowa. Today, NAƒME has more than 130,000 members involved at all levels of music education from preschool through college and in all areas of music education, including general music, chorus, band, orchestra, mariachi, and music teacher education. As such, NAƒME is the largest national association dedicated to the advancement of music education and to professional growth opportunities for its members.

University Players

Open to any student interested in theatre, University Players produce up to eight plays per year in the Lab Series. These shows are designed and directed by students. The group also attends national conventions where they learn about the latest developments in theatre and meet students and professors from other colleges and universities.

United States Institute Theatre Technology (USITT)

USITT keeps performing arts technical professionals in touch with today's rapidly changing scene by fostering a free exchange of ideas and information regarding theatre technology. USITT actively promotes research and investigation in performing arts technology. It is a national organization with an international association.
