Northwest Missouri State University’s transition to Workday is underway, providing the institution with a powerful new platform that will revolutionize how the campus community works, connects and supports one another.
Once implemented, Workday will replace fragmented systems and reduce manual processes, giving Northwest modern tools for budget management, hiring and onboarding, payroll and benefits, timesheets and leave balances, and updating personal information.
Access to these processes will occur in one place, on any device — with fewer logins and fewer paper forms.
This fall, Northwest is in the Architect and Configure stage of the Workday Platform Phase. The University’s Project Team is focused on enhancing the employee experience in Workday, addressing areas such as personal information, payroll, time tracking, absences and time off, benefits, purchasing and expenses.
Workstreams are actively identifying and mitigating risks, documenting key decisions for transparency and noting impacts to facilitate informed decision-making. Teams also are reviewing processes, configurations, security roles and access to ensure all employees can successfully complete their daily tasks.
Workstream is a Workday implementation term used to organize related project work areas. Various representatives and subject matter experts from across Northwest are a part of each other's workstreams.
Visit the Workday Glossary of Terms on the Workday website for more helpful terms about the project.
In January, Northwest will launch its Change Network, a community of representatives from across the University who will serve as advisors, communicators and influencers during the implementation and deployment of Workday.
Through a phased approach to implementation, Northwest expects to deploy the system for employees in July 2026. Deployment of the student system will begin in spring 2026 with the first course registration through Workday scheduled for spring 2028 in anticipation of the fall 2028 semester.
By fall 2028, students, faculty and staff will benefit from advanced tools for student records, curriculum management, data analysis and strategic decision-making.
