KXCV-KRNW unveils new mobile app featuring on-demand programs, Bearcat broadcasts

Listeners of Northwest Missouri State University’s award-winning National Public Radio (NPR) affiliate, KXCV-KRNW, have another way to hear their favorite programs and follow Bearcats sports through the radio station’s new mobile app.

The “Bearcat Public Media App” is available on app stores for all mobile platforms, including android and iOS phones and tablets.

The new “Bearcat Public Media App” is available on app stores for all mobile platforms, including android and iOS phones and tablets. It replaces the radio station’s earlier mobile app for iOS, and users are encouraged to delete the previous version from their devices.

“We’re excited to give our listeners another way to take our programming with them no matter where they are or what device they own” KXCV-KRNW Station Manager John Coffey said.

The app provides access to all of the news, information and entertainment that interests regional listeners. NPR programming that listeners have grown to enjoy – including Americana, jazz and classical music and signature topical programs – also is accessible on-demand via the app.

For fans of Bearcat athletics, the app provides access to the Bearcat Radio Network’s broadcast archives and its “Bearcat Rewind” podcasts, in addition to live broadcasts of all Northwest football and men’s and women’s basketball games. Users of the app also can pause and sync KXCV-KRNW’s live radio broadcasts while they watch MIAA Network broadcasts.

Additionally, users can access KXCV-KRNW’s social media pages directly from the app and provide feedback to the station through a voice recording feature.

Launched in 1971 as the first full-power public radio service in Missouri, KXCV (90.5 FM) has 100,000 watts behind it and provides in-depth news and information with an alternative music format. All of KXCV’s programming emanates from the Northwest campus, while a sister station, KRNW (88.9), founded in 1993, extends the radio programming across most of the northern 25 percent of Missouri. As the flagship of the Bearcat Radio Network, KXCV produces all Northwest football and basketball broadcasts and game feeds.

KXCV-KRNW programming also is accessible online at www.kxcv.org. For information about the station and supporting public radio through a membership, visit the website or call 660.562.1163.
