We believe students learn best by working hands-on.
The School of Communication and Mass Media is home to the Kelly Ferguson News Studio, KZLX radio station, KNWT television station, the Northwest Missourian and Tower Yearbook. Whether you’re on air or behind the scenes, you’ll experience what a day in the life of your future career could look like.
Communication and public relations students have landed internships for the Disney College Program, Barkley Ad Agency, Kansas City Chiefs and more! Mass media students have collaborated with Bearcat Productions, an in-house audio-video production unit that prepares students for a career in media. Dozens of jobs are available in the several student media groups on campus, giving Bearcats unique work experiences in their college career.
No matter where you land, you’ll walk out of here with memories and job skills that will last a lifetime.

Our student outlets have been named finalists in 28 categories in the CMA Pinnacle Awards — including “Outlet of the Year” nods for yearbook, TV, and radio. We lead the nation in individual honors in our division. Congrats to all the creative minds behind the Missourian, KZLX, KNWT, Tower, and more!
