What is the Marshall?

Marshall ScholarshipMarshall Scholarships offers outstanding American students the opportunity to study at the graduate level at a British institution in any field of study. Each year, 40 students are selected from the U.S. as Marshall Scholars through an intensive application process. All 40 Marshall scholars receive full financial support to pursue a graduate degree at the British university of their choosing. Successful candidates are not only selected for their outstanding literary and scholastic attainments, but for their character and potential for leadership. Additionally, they are expected to act as a U.S. ambassador, participating in a reward cultural exchange to strengthen the enduring relationship between the UK and the U.S.

How to Apply

To be eligible, you must be a citizen of the U.S. and have a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.7. Your application will include a personal statement not exceeding 1,000 words, a one-page summary of your proposed academic program, and 4-8 letters of recommendation. Your personal statement should be a narrative of who you are and the experiences that have shaped you. You should also seek to essentially choose to talk about anything that you think the people reviewing your application should know about you.
