The Northwest Experience

Without ever visiting the campus, Taina chose Northwest after speaking with staff in the International Involvement Center who made her feel comfortable, supported and excited to begin the next level of her education in the United States.

She was initially concerned how she would transition her classroom knowledge of human resources into skills that are desirable to prospective employers. During an internship at Homecare Advocacy Network in Omaha, Nebraska, she adapted lessons from her coursework to teach her co-workers new approaches to difficult business situations, reinforce the company’s mission and value, and tools to aid in decision-making. The work she accomplished during her internship impressed her supervisors and led to a full-time position at the company after graduation.

Tiana credits Northwest with building her confidence and teaching her problem-solving skills that made her career ready, day one.
