Northwest students are Career Ready. Day One.

I believe that Northwest is changing me in a sense that everyone truly cares about everyone else here. That factor alone has really opened my eyes and makes me want to strive to be that same way.

The Northwest Experience

Abigail Kirk chose Northwest Missouri State University because she thought it felt like home after her campus tour. She credits the University for providing her with the skills she needs to become a successful teacher and citizen.

Inspired by her high school teachers, she plans to teach high school agriculture and serve as a Future Farmers of America advisor after completing her degree.

The School of Agricultural Sciences offers multiple opportunities that prepare students to be career ready on day one. These include:

  • the R.T. Wright Farm, a 448-acre facility that provides profession-based learning experiences with livestock and crops;
  • the Horticulture Complex, a research laboratory and preparatory room;
  • seven greenhouses with state-of-the-art technology;
  • an agricultural laboratory; and
  • community garden.

Scholarship Opportunities

Abigail is the recipient of the Martin Marietta Scholarship, a $3,500 scholarship awarded annually for up to four years. The scholarship is awarded to six candidates based on excellence in academia, extracurricular activities and community service.
