Requirements of a Peer Educator
PEER EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Attend 80% of the meetings.
- All training, retreats, etc. are mandatory.
- Must maintain 2.5 GPA.
Peer Educators are:
- On good standing with the university.
- Leaders in promoting health/wellness on our campus and community.
- A role-model for our peers.
- Dedicated, passionate, non-judgmental, and open minded.
- Team players working together towards a common goal.
Value and know my role as a peer educator
- Grant individuals with respect and dignity.
- Strive to understand diversity in all its forms.
Value and know my role as a caring helper
- Offer opportunities for people to explore thoughts and feelings.
- Offer myself as a link between students and professional services on campus.
- Maintain confidentiality.
Value and know my role as an educator
- Learn as much as possible about the issues that affect my peers.
- Complete my commitments (staff meetings, program requirements, training).
Value and know my role as an individual
- Understand that my primary responsibility is to myself.
Value and know my role as a role model
- Make decisions in my own life that are positive and healthy.
- Challenge myself to continue my own physical, mental, and emotional growth.
Value and know my role as a contributing group member
- Work together on awareness events and group presentation opportunities.
- Perform community service to help make my community a better place to live.
