What is New Student Orientation and who should attend?

New Student Orientation is an opportunity for students to become oriented with campus, meet with an academic advisor and enroll in classes. All transfer and returning students should plan to attend a New Student Orientation day.

When should I sign up for New Student Orientation?

Students entering in the summer or fall semester will receive an invitation to New Student Orientation in March or with the acceptance letter.

Students entering in the spring semester will receive an invitation to New Student Orientation in October.

What if I can’t attend a New Student Orientation date?

There are a number of New Student Orientation dates throughout the year to accommodate students. However, General Registration is offered just before classes start.

If I’m coming to New Student Orientation from out of town are there places to stay in Maryville?

There are several hotels in Maryville that can accommodate you and your family. We encourage you to make reservations early when you receive your New Student Orientation date to ensure your accommodations.

How long does New Student Orientation last?

New Student Orientation is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.

If I am a returning student, am I required to attend New Student Orientation?

If you are a student returning to Northwest after more than one year away, it is important for you to become reacquainted with the University and attend New Student Orientation.

If you have only been away from Northwest for 1-2 semesters, you will still need to attend advisement and registration during New Student Orientation, but we may be able to waive the orientation portion of the day. Contact OTA@nwmissouri.edu or 660.562.1951 with any questions.
