Northwest Missouri State University is making final preparations to welcome new students and their families in June during its annual Summer Orientation Advisement and Registration sessions, which are better known as SOAR.

Beginning Wednesday, June 3 – and continuing on the subsequent Tuesday, Wednesday, Fridays and Saturdays through June 13 – SOAR provides incoming students and families with a one-day introduction to campus life.

SOAR days provide students with opportunities to connect with new classmates while they explore campus resources, meet with advisors and receive their class schedules.

“This is an exciting time for our prospective students and families – and all of the Northwest community,” Dr. Allison Hoffmann, the University’s associate provost for enrollment management and student success, said. “Every interaction at SOAR provides a great opportunity to show students how important they are and helps to solidify that their decision to attend Northwest is the right one.”

Northwest expects approximately 100 students, in addition to their family members, to attend each day. Sessions will take place in the Carl and Cheryl Hughes Fieldhouse and the B.D. Owens Library, in addition to lunch in the J.W. Jones Student Union and the residence hall tours in Franken Hall and Tower Suites.

Additional SOAR days are scheduled for Thursday, July 23, and Saturday, July 25.
