Anna Tucker, a junior political science major from Lawson, Missouri, was elected president of the Student Senate. She has served on Student Senate as a freshman class representative and sophomore class representative.

Her campus involvement also includes service as president of the Northwest chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha political science honor society and as director of traditions for the Student Activities Council.

She is vice president of the Golf Club, secretary of the Mock Trial team, secretary of the Prelaw Society and a peer advisor for University Seminar. She also is a member of the President’s Student Advisory Council, Future Business Leaders of America and The Navigators.

“Being elected to serve as Student Senate president is truly an honor, and I’m incredibly grateful for the trust my peers have placed in me,” Tucker said. “I’m excited to step into this role and represent the voices of our student body. Over the next year, I hope to focus on building stronger connections between students and administration, improving transparency in student government and making sure all students feel heard — especially those who don’t always see themselves reflected in leadership spaces.”

Tucker added, “I also want to work on practical initiatives that make everyday student life better, whether that’s improving campus resources, addressing affordability concerns, or creating more opportunities for student involvement. Most of all, I hope to lead in a way that invites collaboration, encourages new ideas and leaves our campus stronger than I found it.”

Joining Tucker on the Senate’s executive board are Vice President Phillip Motazedi, a junior political science major from Joplin, Missouri; Secretary Abby Fisher, a senior biomedical science major from Ashland, Nebraska; and Treasurer Ava Sammons, a sophomore dietetics major from Ankeny, Iowa.

The Student Senate announced winners of its campus elections during its April 1 meeting, and new officers were sworn in at the April 22 meeting.
