Northwest announces retirements of 9 faculty members

Northwest Missouri State University has announced the retirements of nine faculty members who have dedicated a combined 213 years of service to the University.

Faculty retiring from Northwest this spring are:

  • Dr. Bob Bergland, associate professor of mass media in the School of Communication and Mass Media, six years of service
  • Jeff Bradley, senior instructor of geology in the Department of Natural Sciences, 35 years of service
  • Dr. Loren Butler, associate professor of health and physical recreation in the School of Health Science and Wellness, 25 years of service
  • Dr. Kurt Haberyan, professor of biology in the Department of Natural Sciences, 31 years of service
  • Armin Mühsam, professor of art in the Department of Fine and Performing Arts, 25 years of service
  • Pat Immel, professor of theatre in the Department of Fine and Performing Arts, 27 years of service
  • Dr. Leticia Cabrera, assistant professor of biology in the Department of Natural Sciences, seven years of service
  • Dr. Michael Hobbs, professor of English in the Department of Language, Literature and Writing, 32 years of service

Additionally, Matt Johnson, a senior instructor of history in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, retired from the University in December with 25½ years of service.

Bergland, Bradley, Hobbs and Immel are participating in Northwest’s annual Faculty Retirement Reception on Friday, April 25, in the J.W. Jones Student Union Ballroom. Refreshments will be served, beginning at 3 p.m. and a formal presentation will begin at 3:30 p.m.
