Northwest announces retirements of 7 faculty members


Northwest Missouri State University has announced the retirements of seven faculty members who have dedicated a combined 185 years of service to the University.

Faculty retiring from Northwest this spring are:

  • Mark Corson, professor of geography in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences and chair of the Department of Natural Sciences, 25 years of service
  • Kurtis Fink, associate professor of mathematics and statistics in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, 38 years of service
  • Rafiq Islam, professor of chemistry in the Department of Natural Sciences, 26 years of service
  • John Pope, associate professor of geology in the Department of Natural Sciences, 21 years of service
  • Shelley Riley, associate professor of chemistry in the Department of Natural Sciences, 14 years of service
  • Deb Toomey, associate professor of marketing in the Melvin D. and Valorie G. Booth School of Business, 26 years of service
  • Nancy Zeliff, professor of computer science and information systems in the School of Computer Science and Information Systems, 35 years of service

Northwest will honor retirees during its annual Faculty Retirement Reception on Friday, April 21, in the J.W. Jones Student Union Boardroom. Refreshments will be served, beginning at 3:30 p.m. and a formal presentation begins at 4 p.m.
