Jensen, a freshman agricultural media major from Atlantic, Iowa, received a $1,000 scholarship from the Foundation.

“Receiving this scholarship has meant a lot to me,” Jensen said. “I felt that it was not only a great way to reflect on all of my hard work within the pork industry but also a chance to use it as a platform to continue advocating for the industry.”

To be considered for the scholarship, incoming and returning undergraduate scholarship recipients must be Iowa residents who maintain a 2.5 grade-point average and major in an agriculture-related field.

Jensen grew up raising pigs on her family’s farm and showing them while she was active with the Cass County Pork Producers Club. She also has served as the Cass County Pork Queen for the past two years.

To further strengthen her agriculture-based skills, Jensen decided to pursue a bachelor’s degree at Northwest. She also is a member of the University’s collegiate FFA club and collegiate Farm Bureau.

“I had heard a lot of good things about the agricultural media degree path (at Northwest) and, after taking a tour, I immediately fell in love with not only the University’s agriculture program, but everything else Northwest has to offer,” Jensen said.

After completing her degree, Jensen hopes to pursue a career in radio and specialize in agriculture topics.
