Theatre Northwest announces auditions for fall productions

Northwest Missouri State University students of all majors are invited to audition for Mainstage and student-directed Lab Series productions for Theatre Northwest’s fall season.

Theatre Northwest’s 2022-2023 season consists of eight productions, beginning with Barbara Wiechmann’s "Aunt Leaf" Sept. 16-17 and Adam Bock’s “A Small Fire” Sept. 23-24. Then, the 32nd annual Freshman/Transfer Showcase features first-year students presenting John Olive’s “The Voice of the Prairie” Sept. 29 through Oct. 2. The University presents William Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing” Nov. 10-13, and the annual Alpha Psi Omega children’s show in December rounds out the fall schedule.

The spring schedule begins with Theatre Northwest’s inaugural Play Reading Festival Feb. 6-9, Feb. 13-16 and Feb. 20-22. The University also presents Stephen Karam’s “The Humans” Feb. 24-25 and “SpongeBob SquarePants: The Musical” April 13-16.

Students interested in auditions as well as technical and crew positions for fall productions are encouraged to attend an informational meeting at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17, in the lobby of the Studio Theatre at the Ron Houston Center for the Performing Arts.

Audition times and locations are provided below. Students may sign up for audition times by clicking this link.

Students also must complete a general audition form; cold readings will be provided to first-year students, and returning students must present two contrasting pieces in under two minutes.
