Gov. Michael Parson has announced his appointment of Connor Thompson, a junior political science major from Kansas City, Missouri, as Northwest Missouri State University’s next student regent.

The appointment is effective immediately but must be confirmed by the Missouri Senate before becoming official. Thompson fills the seat vacated by Janay Orange who graduated from Northwest at the conclusion of the summer 2019 term.

Northwest’s Board of Regents is responsible for sound resource management of the University and determining general, educational and financial policies. According to state statutes, one member must be a non-voting student representative.
