Hughes Fieldhouse open for community walking

The Carl and Cheryl Hughes Fieldhouse on the Northwest Missouri State University campus has reopened to community members for walking on the facility’s indoor track.

The track is open for walking between 8 a.m. and noon each Monday through Thursday until Thursday, Aug. 13. Hours are subject to change.

Community members entering the facility during walking hours must have a valid Maryville Parks and Recreation pass; cards must be swiped at the desk inside the south entrance. Individuals under age 13 must be accompanied by an adult, and no day passes are available.

Community members should park south of the Hughes Fieldhouse and enter and exit the facility through the south Wells Bank entrance.

Additionally, the Robert and Virginia Foster Fitness Center is open 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 to 7 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Fridays. The Student Recreation Center is open 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays as well as 4 to 7 p.m.  Fridays.

Face coverings are required to enter recreation facilities in alignment with Northwest’s mitigation measures to help prevent the spread of coronavirus. For additional information about Northwest’s COVID-19 recovering phasing, visit www.nwmissouri.edu/wellness/covid/.

Opened in the fall of 2018, the Hughes Fieldhouse represents the single largest public-private partnership in the University’s history as well as one of the largest such projects in the region ever. The $21 million, 137,250 square-foot facility, which includes a 90-yard turf field for a variety of activities and a 300-meter track, is designed to serve a multitude of social, recreational and economic needs for the University and the region.
