Literary, art magazine accepting submissions

The students behind “Medium Weight Forks,” Northwest Missouri State University’s literary and art magazine, are calling for submissions for the 2020 edition scheduled for publication this spring.

The deadline to submit work is Thursday, Feb. 20.

Medium Weight Forks is an undergraduate journal published annually by students in the University’s English 512: Publication Skills course.

Northwest students, employees and alumni may submit literary work, including fiction or nonfiction writing, poetry and scripts. Written work should be no more than 3,000 words, and an individual may submit no more than six pieces.

Editors also consider two-dimensional artwork, including comic strips, photographs and other original, unpublished artwork. People should not be depicted in photo submissions.

Individual may submit up to six pieces of artwork, and editors will select one art piece for the publication’s cover. All artwork and photography will be printed in black and white, but color submissions are encouraged.
