Margee began her career with JC Penney upon graduation and was promoted to general merchandise manager in 1983. In 1990 she retired from J.C. Penney to raise a family. Margee directed the Southeast Nebraska Crisis Pregnancy Center from 1996 until 2002, when her family moved to Audubon, Iowa. Margee was administrator of Audubon County Economic Development from 2004 to 2016 and later served as a Family and Educator Partnership Coordinator until 2018. She continues to support the community by means of several board positions on area non-profit organizations as well as volunteer endeavors.
Margee’s husband Steve Shaffer, a retired banker, is a Northwest Missouri graduate. They have two adult children and two wonderful grandchildren. Numerous relatives are also Northwest graduates. She enjoys attending Bearcat sporting events and has many wonderful memories of attending National Championship games.
