KXCV-KRNW Studio Honors Beloved Program Director, Sharon Cross Bonnett.
Next time you tune into KXCV-KRNW, Northwest Missouri State University's award-winning NPR station, you'll be hearing from the Sharon Cross Bonnett Studio thanks to a generous gift from her family.
A 1965 Northwest graduate, Sharon Cross Bonnett was a true pillar of KXCV for 34 years, serving as producer, program director, and general manager until her retirement in 2006. Sharon's achievements during her time at the station were truly remarkable. She expanded coverage by launching KRNW, provided audio reader services for the visually impaired, started the Bearcat Radio Network, and even extended KXCV's broadcast schedule to 24/7. She received numerous awards, including national ones. Sharon passed away in 2023.
Tim & Nan Shipley established the endowment to support KXCV-KRNW's programming, technology, and facility maintenance because they wanted to honor Sharon’s legacy while creating opportunities for future students in perpetuity.
