Northwest Opens State-of-the-Art Finance Trading Room.

The Melvin D. and Valorie G. Booth School of Business recently celebrated the grand opening of its brand-new Finance Trading Room in Colden Hall.

A cutting-edge space designed to give students a real-world feel for finance and economics, Northwest President Dr. Lance Tatum called it a "significant addition" and a perfect example of the University's commitment to profession-based learning.

Thanks to funding from the Perry Business Education Foundation and the Booth Endowment Fund, this transformed classroom is packed with technology. Think multiple computers, big television monitors, and even a live ticker display to track financial markets. Plus, with dry-erase walls and mobile furniture, it's set up for serious collaboration.

It's equipped with Bloomberg software, giving students access to the same financial databases industry professionals use. This means hands-on experience with company filings, government securities, commodities, and more – it's like having a direct line to Wall Street right here on campus!

"We don't just talk about this," Dr. Tatum said about profession-based learning. "We actually do this, and it is embedded in our curriculum... The trading room is a perfect example of that commitment in action."

While it's a game-changer for finance and marketing majors, anyone interested can use its resources. This new trading room is all about preparing Northwest students to hit the ground running in their careers.
