Theatre Northwest announces auditions for fall productions

Northwest Missouri State University students of all majors are invited to audition for Mainstage and student-directed Lab Series productions being staged during Theatre Northwest’s fall season.

Theatre Northwest’s 2025-26 season begins with “A Fall Evening of One-Acts,” Sept. 18-20. The fall schedule continues Oct. 8-12 with the annual First-Year Showcase, “They Promised Her the Moon,” and “When We Were Young and Unafraid,” Nov. 12-16.

The 2025-26 season also includes “A Blind Date” by Elliot Baker, “Down Came the Rain” by Burgess Clark and “Pillow Talk” by Peter Tolan.

More information, including meeting and audition times, is provided below. Only first-year and transfer students are eligible to audition for the First-Year Showcase.

Welcome Back Theatre Meeting and Audition Information

3:30 to 4:20 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, in the Studio Theater at the Ron Houston Center for the Performing Arts

Meet other theatre students and receive information about signing up for auditions. Stop by, even if you cannot stay for the entire meeting.

General Auditions

6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27

Students are invited to audition for all fall semester shows and have an opportunity to sign up for a specific audition time. Students are asked to prepare two contrasting monologues, each one minute or less, for a total of two minutes. Include a “slate” to introduce your first and last name and the names of your two monologues. Materials are available for students without prepared monologues.

Thursday, Aug. 28

Callbacks for “They Promised Her the Moon” are 6:30 to 8 p.m. and for “A Fall Evening of One Acts” from 8 to 9:30 p.m. Readings from the scripts will be provided. Students will be notified via email if they receive a callback.

Friday Aug. 29

Callbacks for “When We Were Young and Unafraid” are 6:30 to 8 p.m. Readings from the script will be provided.
