Meet the Instructors

Emily FiteAbout Emily Fite (E- RYT 500, RN, BSN)

Emily received her training from Shoshoni Retreat Center in 2000 and began teaching Hatha yoga. She opened The Yoga Room in 2002. Emily believes that yoga can bring optimal health and balance to every aspect of our lives. Emily has been a practicing registered nurse in obstetrics since 2000. Emily is a wife and has three small wonderful children. 

Alisha FrancisAbout Alisha Francis (Ph.D., RYT 200)

Alisha began practicing yoga in St. Louis in 2005 and quickly grew to value the range of benefits she experienced. She was excited to cultivate a community of yogis when she moved to Maryville and completed certification through the National Exercise Trainers Association in 2008. In 2010 she earned her 200RYT designation with Yoga Alliance by completing the Bhaktivana Yoga Teacher Training. She appreciates the way each instructor offers a unique interpretation of the practice and enjoys exploring various styles of yoga. Her graduate studies in Organizational Psychology also drew her to research the effects of stress, fueling her passion to offer classes which are accessible to a wide range of individuals in order to contribute to the well-being of her community.

Mike MattockAbout Mike Mattock (PsyD)

Mike obtained his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Minnesota School of Professional Psychology.  He has been a student of sitting meditation off and on throughout his life since his years as a college student.  Special therapy interests include communication and relationship issues, men's issues, and issues related to anxiety and depression.

Stine MuhammadAbout Stine Muhammad (RYT 200)

Celestine (Stine) is a Registered Yoga Teacher  (200 hr.) with the Yoga Allinance.  “Yoga for me is about what brings me “PEACE”, what brings me “JOY”!  And I can bring neither to anyone if I’m “limpin” around wounded!  .  I came into yoga after many years of searching “WHO AM I”?    Yoga is so much more than the asana (posture), it is about the stillness that comes within the posture, the smile exchanged with a stranger, it’s a gift, practice! ”   Stine is the founder of “A PEACE OF YOGA”.  She credits her inspiration to Judith Lasater and Max Strom, as well her personal instructors Emily Darling, Christy Burnette, Susan Day, Debbie Borrell and Susan Richardson and her many
friends and loved ones standing in the wings cheering her on!

Margaret PiersonAbout Margaret Pierson

Margaret has completed the Practical Yoga Instructor Training from the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America as well as finishing the course requirements through YogaFit for a 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher with the Yoga Alliance. Margaret teaches yoga at the Maryville Community Center.
