SOAR is a Summer Orientation, Advisement and Registration program for first-time freshmen. During SOAR, students spend a day on campus learning about Northwest, connecting with other students and a SOAR Leader dedicated to working with the student’s academic interest area, meeting with a faculty advisor and registering for first semester classes. Parents also have programming dedicated just to them. Both parents and students also have the opportunity to visit residence halls, get questions answered at a student services fair, and more.

Advantage is Northwest’s welcome program for new students. It’s a continuation of summer orientation, helping students get further acquainted with campus. Students move in the Thursday before classes start and begin meeting with their university seminar class, attending important programming about adjusting to university life, making new friends, and having a lot of fun!
