Energy Management

This past summer Northwest Missouri State University partnered with ARAMARK Higher Education to develop and implement a program to improve energy efficiency on campus. The program will focus on energy consumption reduction strategies and will involve the entire campus community. Reducing energy consumption presents several major benefits to the University and our community, including the following:

The goal of the energy program is to assist Northwest Missouri State University in realizing these benefits while maintaining acceptable indoor comfort conditions.

Information about campus transition to cooling

Northwest is beginning its transition from heating to cooling today. The process is anticipated to take two days to complete with mechanical cooling starting no later than Friday, April 15.

While each building on campus is unique, outside air is typically used for cooling until outdoor temperatures reach 65 degrees, at which point the chiller plant is brought online. Where available, building occupants may open windows for additional cooling during mild days, though windows should be closed at night to prevent overcooling and the risk of rain entering the building.

Once the switchover to cooling is complete, heating will not be available in most buildings on campus until the University transitions back to heating in the fall.

Northwest appreciates your patience and understanding during this process. For additional information, contact Facility Services at 660.562.1183.
