2020-21 Room Selection for Current Students

Room selection for current students occurs in five parts, each described below. Some things to consider:

  • All part of selection, except same building/same room selection, are ordered by class through their assigned days: senior, juniors, sophomores and freshmen.
  • During any part of room selection, a student who is eligible to select can pull in any current Northwest student to be their roommate. The student does not have to be a current roommate or resident of the building being selected.

Same building/same room selection

  • Dec. 4 – Feb. 2
  • Students living in eligible spaces and wish to retain their current room for the next academic year will be able to select their same space online.
  • Students may select at their convenience during these dates as no one else will be able to reserve their space.

Same building, different room selection

  • Feb. 3 – 9
  • Students wanting to live in their same building but select a different room for the next academic year will be able to select online. Students selecting will be able to pull in any current student as their roommate when they select, regardless of where they currently live.

General room selection: Phase I – Room fill requirement

  • Feb. 10 – 11
  • Students may select from any eligible and open space in any residence hall or apartment.
  • At the time of selection, any group of students must be able to fill the entire living unit. No empty bed spaces can remain at the time of selection.

General room selection: Phase II – No fill requirement

  • Feb. 12 – 13
  • Students may select from any eligible and open space in any residence hall or apartment.

Sorority room selection

  • Members of Alpha Phi, Alpha Sigma Alpha, Phi Mu, Sigma Kappa and Sigma Sigma Sigma who will be living in Roberta Hall next year typically select rooms after the conclusion of general room selection.
  • Residential and Auxiliary Services’ coordinator of housing assignments will work with the housing chairperson of each sorority to establish selection timelines and processes for their chapter.
  • Specific information will be communicated to members by the respective housing chairpersons.
