Johnson named Homecoming king; Felz is queen


Northwest Missouri State University crowned Tubias Johnson and Taylor Felz its 2019 Homecoming king and queen Thursday during the University’s annual Homecoming Variety Show.

Johnson, of St. Louis, is a junior human services major. He is active with the Black Student Union, Alpha Phi Alpha, National Pan-Hellenic Council, TRIO Student Support Services, Student Senate, To Write Love on Her Arms and the Black Men of Excellence Network.

Felz, of Raymore, Missouri, is a senior marketing and business management major. She is active in Sigma Sigma Sigma, Panhellenic Council, Cardinal Key, the Society of President’s Scholars, Student Ambassadors, and the National Society of Leadership and Success.

Northwest students selected the king and queen during a week of online voting Oct. 14-18.

This year's Homecoming prince is Jack Osborn, a kindergartener at St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic School; he is the son of Audrey and Joel Osborn, an assistant football coach at Northwest. The Homecoming princess is Vilhelmina Chloupek, a second grader at St. Gregory; she is the daughter of Sylvia and Dr. Brett Chloupek, an associate professor of geography.

Northwest continues its Homecoming activities, “Bearcats Ever After,” through Oct. 26. Events are open to all Northwest students, alumni, faculty, staff, families, friends and community members. For a complete schedule of activities, visit www.nwmissouri.edu/getinvolved/homecoming/.
