Career Services offering ‘Chat with a Cat’ walking group

Add to Calendar

Northwest Missouri State University’s Career Services and Wellness Services are collaborating this summer to launch “Chat with a Cat at the Track” to connect students with Northwest alumni and friends.

All Northwest students, employees and community members are invited to join the group for walking from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. each Friday at the Carl and Cheryl Hughes Fieldhouse on the Northwest campus. Participation in the activity is free and attendees are welcome to come and go as they need.

The walking group trails Chat with a Cat lunch sessions, which Career Services sponsored in partnership with the Northwest Alumni Association during the spring semester at the University’s J.W. Jones Student Union. Those sessions involved local professionals and Northwest alumni connecting with students during informal lunch time gatherings.

“Building off of the fun we had this past semester with Chat with a Cat, we are now refocusing the group for the summer to a walking group,” Jill Brown, Northwest’s director of partnerships and placement, said. “Chat with a Cat at the Track is an informal, come-and-go, walking group aimed at two things – walking and talking. We can all use a little break in our day. Walking is a great stress reliever, and you just might make a new friend.”
