Northwest Missouri State University has announced the appointment of Jeremy Waldeier as its executive director of student recruiting to oversee recruitment processes and operations at the institution.

Waldeier worked in the role during the fall on an interim basis after the July retirement of Bev Schenkel, who oversaw Northwest’s admissions and recruitment programs as associate provost of enrollment and retention management.

Waldeier leads the Office of Student Recruiting within the University’s external relations unit, which also includes the Office of University Marketing and Communication and the Office of University Advancement. The three areas within the unit are charged with collaborating to build a sales culture for Northwest.

Student Recruiting also includes admissions operations, transfer services and financial assistance.

“In working with Jeremy this year, it is evident to me that we are fortunate to have his talents at Northwest,” Vice President of External Relations Dr. Lonelle Rathje said. “I’ve been impressed with his industry knowledge, innovative thinking, collaborative management style and commitment to Northwest.”

Waldeier has 19 years of comprehensive recruitment experience. He started his career at Northwest as an assistant director of admissions and recruited throughout the Kansas City region. For the last 16 years, he worked as associate director of admissions and supervised regional recruitment staff, student ambassadors, the daily tour program and the telecounseling program in addition to assisting with marketing efforts, data analysis and reporting, training and strategic planning.

In 2016, Waldeier was named the Supervisor of the Year for Northwest student employment and the State of Missouri Student Employment Supervisor of the Year.

A native of Ravenwood, Missouri, he earned bachelor’s degrees in marketing and management and a master’s degree in higher education leadership, all from Northwest.

“I am honored to serve as the executive director of student recruiting for Northwest and look forward to building on our recent successes,” Waldeier said. “I’m excited to work with our outstanding faculty, staff, students, alumni and Maryville community to continue moving the University forward and reaching our institutional goals.”
